A Vintage Racer Reunion
by Scott Heidbrink
"Racing in Southern California was always larger than life, and no race has a reputation as huge as Hopetown. Hopetown was one of the frst U.S. tracks the Euro’s raced on – think Joel Robert, Torsten Hallman and Roger DeCoster on CZs. It was also one of those races that always attracted the brightest... the best... and the fastest from all types of 2-wheel racers: MXers, flat trackers, desert racers – you name it, everyone had the Hopetown GP on their calendar back in the day.
Racing at Hopetown came to an abrupt end in 1975, when the DDMC could not get the necessary permits to stage the race anymore. But on Saturday, August 18th, over 4,000 people came together to remember this legendary event."
